The Midway Church of Christ exists largely as a result of the vision and hard work of many Christians in Walker County. The church at Midway first met in the summer of 1969. The Shiloh and McCollum congregations prayerfully merged to form this loving church.
The ideals that embodied the Midway church at its beginning included: emphasis on mission work, reaching out to the community, providing growth opportunities for all ages, and cultivating a family-oriented atmosphere. The Midway church today strives to carry out the Lord’s will in these same ways today.
Midway has especially been blessed with loving and capable elders who shepherd the church. Those who have served as elders throughout Midway’s history include: Jesse Ellis, Grady Guin, Hubert Taylor, Edgar Terry, Atchel Blanton, Jettie Hoobler, Ben Panter, Tom Wright, J.O. Banks, Frank Barker, Wayne Lowe, Curtis Panter, Bruce Blakemore, Bill Gill, Raymond Steadman, and Charlie Kilgore. Today, Midway works under the oversight of Edward Blanton, Ed Bull, Keith Gann, and Kelly Key.
Thanks to dedicated Christian men and women, and most importantly, the Lord, much spiritual and numerical growth has occurred since the inception of the Midway church. May the Lord continue to bless the vision and work of the Midway Church of Christ.
